Rapid membrane transport: urea clears fast but glucose is absorbed quickly too, reducing ultrafiltration with long dwells. Short dwells (often APD/cycler) preserve UF. Watch fluid balance and glucose absorption.
The most common transport type. Standard CAPD or APD prescriptions generally work well with standard dwell times.
Slightly slower membrane — adequate small-solute clearance with standard CAPD; longer dwells may be needed if adequacy targets lag.
Slow membrane: excellent ultrafiltration with long dwells but slower solute clearance. CAPD with long dwells is usually ideal; monitor weekly Kt/V to stay on target.
