Paneer is moderate in potassium but higher in phosphorus and sodium (especially salted varieties). Early CKD: small portions fine. Stage 4-5 and dialysis: limit it and count phosphorus — tofu is a lighter alternative.
Paneer (cottage cheese) delivers good protein, which dialysis patients need — but it brings phosphorus (~250-300 mg/100g) and sodium from salting, and a moderate potassium load.
For stage 3, a small portion (50g) occasionally fits. For stage 4-5 and dialysis, phosphorus binders and budget counting make paneer a sometimes-food; tofu or egg whites are the lighter protein choices.
The added salt matters most for hypertensive kidney patients — unsalted, fresh paneer is the safer form.
