There is no such thing as a 'kidney cleanse.' The kidneys are self-cleaning filters — 'detox' regimens, lemon-detox fasts, and cleanse kits have zero clinical evidence and some are actively harmful (dehydration, electrolyte shifts, oxalate load). The real kidney 'detox' is water, blood pressure control, and avoiding NSAIDs.
The kidneys remove waste continuously — they don't need 'flushing.' The lemon-detox and juice-cleanse fads have no clinical support, and fasting-style cleanses can drop blood pressure dangerously in CKD and worsen dehydration.
Some cleanse products contain diuretics, herbs with kidney toxicity, or huge vitamin doses (oxalate load from mega vitamin C). Case reports document kidney injury from 'detox' products.
The honest substitute: 2-2.5 L of water daily (for stone prevention), blood pressure under control, blood sugar managed, and NSAIDs avoided — that IS the kidney 'detox,' and it's evidence-based.
