Uric acid 7.0 is above the typical upper limit — hyperuricemia that raises gout and uric-acid stone risk, and is very common in CKD.
Uric acid is the breakdown product of purines. Kidneys excrete it; elevated levels cause gout and kidney stones, and are common in CKD.
Blood test. Levels fluctuate with diet (meat, alcohol, seafood) — fasting value is most reliable.
